Michael J. Burke is a New York-based IATSE Local 600 Camera Operator and Cinematographer. In December of 2023, Michael was the Cinematographer for the feature film "The Wake." Directed by Brian Brightly and shot in Syracuse, "The Wake" included cast members Rob Yang, Ross Partridge, Michael Chernus, and Ryan Miller from Guster.

Michael is a member of the SOA and the SOC. In the Fall of 2023, Michael worked on the feature film "The Dutchman" as A Steadicam Operator filming in New York under the SAG Interim Waiver. In the Spring of 2023, Michael worked on "Dr. Death" Season Two as a B Camera Operator and Steadicam Operator.

In 2022, Michael worked on the AMC Show "Dead City” as the B Camera Operator for Cinematographer Terry Stacey. In 2022, Michael worked on the Showtime show "Let The Right One In" as a B Camera Operator and Steadicam Operator for Cinematographers Eric Branco, Jay Feather, and Tim Norman. In Spring 2022, Michael worked as the Camera Operator and Steadicam Operator for the Darren Le Gallo film "Sam & Kate" with Dustin Hoffman and Sissy Spacek for the Cinematographer Frank G. DeMarco. In the fall of 2021, Michael worked as a Camera Operator for the HBO show "And Just Like That" for Cinematographer Tim Norman.

Michael J. Burke has worked in the Film Industry for over twenty-five years. Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Film, Photography, Studio Art, and Environmental Studies in 2002 from the University of Vermont. Michael began his career as a Camera Loader in 1996 on the film A Stranger in the Kingdom. In 2000, he worked as a Camera Assistant for the Sundance Film Maker's Lab, where he met the Cinematographer Tim Orr. As a Camera Loader for Tim Orr, Michael worked on "Raising Victor Vargas," "All The Real Girls," "Undertow," "The Baxter," "Imaginary Heroes," and "Little Manhattan."

2004-2005, Michael joined the International Cinematographers Guild / IATSE Local 600 and began working as a First Assistant Cameraman. As a First Camera Assistant, Michael worked with Bobby Bukowski on "The Hawk is Dying," "The Guitar," "Phoebe in Wonderland," "The Messenger," "Very Good Girls," "The Iceman" and the John Stewart film "Rosewater." Also, as a First Camera Assistant, Michael worked with Frank DeMarco on "Short Bus", "Rabbit Hole," and "The Winning Season." In addition, Michael has worked as a 1st Camera Assistant on "John Wick" for DP Johnathon Sela, "This is Where I Leave You" for DP Terry Stacey, "Spiderman: Homecoming," "Life of Crime" and "Red Oaks". Michael worked on season one of "Girls" with Jody Lee Lipes. Michael did the pilot and first two "White Collar" seasons with Russell Lee Fine. Michael worked on "Winter's Bone" with Michael McDonough.

Additionally, Michael also worked with William Rexer on "Friends with Kids," "Public Morals," "The Get Down," "The Tick," "The Village," and "Hunters." As a Camera Operator and Cinematographer, Michael worked on the award-winning feature film directed by Oden Roberts called "A Fighting Season." Michael worked as the Cinematographer on the TV pilot "Urban Teach Now," directed by Heather Fink and starring S.J. Son and Ginny Leise. Michael was the Cinematographer on a TV pilot directed by Stephen Girasuolo called "The Hold Outs" with Kevin Corrigan, which won a Best Actor in a Comedy award at Series Fest in Denver. Michael was the Cinematographer on the TV pilot directed by Randy Rubin called "Night Tales."
